We are very close to the end of 2019. And it’s a great time to make some predictions about technologies which will trend and flourish in the next year.
In this post, I’m going to list down some of the latest technologies which will trend in 2020.
So let’s get started…
“AI is everywhere. It’s not that big, scary thing in the future. AI is here with us” ~ Fei-Fei Li
Like the last few years, Artificial Intelligence is still in the list of top trending technologies this year. According to a report, the AI market will grow to a $190 billion industry by 2025 (source).
AI with machine learning and deep learning imparting the abilities of human brains to the computer-based software. In fact, AI-based web and mobile applications can perform functions that were earlier possible to humans only.
“We have elected to put our money and faith in a mathematical framework that is free of politics and human error.” ~ Tyler Winklevoss, Co-creator of Facebook
For those who don’t know what blockchain is, it’s simply a transparent, publicly distributed ledger that allows us to securely transfer the ownership of units using public-key encryption and proof of work methods.
Although, some countries are afraid to accept Bitcoin exchanges as legal, we can expect all countries will accept blockchain-based currency in the future due to the potential advantage of public services.
In fact, Venezuela has already launched its national cryptocurrency Petro (petromoneda) in 2018.
“Automation is good, so long as you know exactly where to put the machine.” ~ Eliyahu Goldratt
Have you ever been in a situation where you are required to do the same task every day?
That’s not just boring but increases the probability of human error.
Automation is a technology that completely automates specific tasks. From delivering pizza to self-driving cars, automation is growing fast and changing the world around us. With the help of robots, machine learning and artificial intelligence, automation will be able to do more complex tasks.
Will it take away our jobs?
We couldn’t say it right now. Maybe it’ll produce more opportunities. In fact, it’s been found in a survey that almost 70% of workers believe that automation will offer them an opportunity to qualify for more highly skilled work (source).
“Virtual reality and augmented reality will change the way we shop.” ~ Michio Kaku
For years, users are interacting with computers with a two-dimensional screen and a keyboard. However, things will change dramatically with upcoming technologies like Augmented reality (AR), virtual reality(VR) and Mixed Reality(MR).
Imagine you point your phone camera on a product and you get all the reviews of that product on your screen. Combining with other technologies like IoT, augmented reality will provide a richer view to the users.
The good news is, it’s not very far. Yelp is already using this technology as you can get reviews of a hotel just by pointing your phone towards it.
“Ironically, a lot of people think that they’ve never used a chatbot, they’ve never experienced it, when in fact they have. Because Siri and Google and Alexa and all those voice-activated speaking bots, if you will, those are actually audio chatbots.” ~ Kelly Noble Mirabella
Do you want to provide support to your clients (and potential clients) 24/7 but not able to do it because of the lack of human resources?
Well, chatbots are here to help you with that.
As per experts, 80% of businesses are expected to have some sort of automation chatbots by 2020 (source).
And with the help of machine learning and AI, chatbots will be much more capable in the future to provide personal and intelligent support.
